I remember the years leading up to the success of Apollo 11.  The buzz and excitement encouraged many of us into science, and as our minds opened with possibilities the arts and society flourished.  It was a time of hope, with many actively working for an expansive future.

Then we lost our nerve.

My hope is that we will, once more reach for the sky.

After all our species needs open spaces.
