Armageddon Expo

Three months ago my curiosity took me to this blog (  Futerra is a company I keep an eye on because their work is so interesting and sustainability fun focussed.  The geek in me was intrigued by the Star Trek uniforms.  But when would I wear one, my daughter cunningly suggested Armageddon.  So…

Yesterday we drove to Wellington to Armageddon;  a geek fueled consumption fest.  The cos-player’s efforts were exciting and interesting, certainly there are plenty of people enjoying the opportunity to make costumes and to use their bought ones.  But the stalls for the most part left me cold and the faces of thousands were “supermarket faces”  cold and sharp.  Rampant commercial consumption leaves me blah.

The best part was humor and excitement of the costumes.  This picture is my daughter and her cousin, also a great cos-player fan.  That is the real creative energy of Armageddon, and the human face of us.  Creativity not consumption.
