sagansense: Star Trek Kurk for contraception

I saw this yesterday.  At least here in New Zealand we have relatively open access to contraception.  Condoms in supermarkets.  The morning-after pill in pharmacies. Sex education in schools.  But the forces that would like us to go backwards are here.

For a sustainable future we need low population growth.  That means sex education, access to contraceptives and abortion.  It means education and understanding of pleasure, care and responsibility; and sexual partners rights to say be assertive about what they like and to change their minds.

I did not know that the first series of Star Trek explored this issue in 1969.  Amazing.
