“In the ancient systems of self-liberation, to cultivate a lifelong erotic and companionable relationship, to lovingly and attentively raise children, to earn a living by honorable if humble means, and to prepare food and keep house with art and style, was as highly regarded as any way of life one may choose”  Steve Biddulph  (I am sorry I cannot remember exactly which book it is from).

This quote is an important one for me.  It reminds me of my values and the way I would like to live my life.  So different from the dominant narrative about competition and running after material stuff.  I think we would all be happier and the world a better place if more of us lived by these values, rather than the dog-eat-dog ones we are constantly encourage to adopt through the market and so many other people.

A life lived this way builds individuals and communities leading to beauty and sustainability.
