The card below was sent to the “It’s OK to be smart blog”. I agree with the answer given; follow the link. My view is that Science and the sciences are implicitly creative.
Unfortunately, the way science is taught gives the impression that science is just “learn stuff and give answers”. That is just not correct, science is an amazing process of observation, question; hypothesize; observe, measure, experiment; debate, conclude; and then repeat the process as we learn more. Science is an amazingly sophisticated process and totally creative.
I would also add the science is inherently interdisciplinary, as are the complex opportunities available for students today.
My advice to any student is to find ways to “Follow your bliss” (Joseph Campbell) and you will be OK.
