Dead Poets Society: The importance of finding our own voice

I recently, found this quote:
“John Keating: Boys, you must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Don’t be resigned to that. Break out!

The author/director/teacher is encouraging young men to find their own “walk” – or to go against the flow.

Beautiful sentiments.  Difficult in our society – even though we are encouraged as individuals, as consumers.  I don’t think we are encouraged as thoughtful citizens, recognizing the importance of individual and cooperative, collaborative creativity.

As a creative force we must find our voice.
